Subject: Revised Promotional Eligibility List for Fire Captain

When the initial Promotional Eligibility List for Fire Captain was posted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, a number of candidates probably noticed a one (1) point plus or minus difference in their “Raw Score” grades.

These differences reflected adjustments made to the list as the result of a conversation between this Office and a representative of test developer I.O. Solutions, Inc. on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 26, 2008.

During that conversation, the firm’s representative advised us that the correct answer to question number 89 was “B,” and not “D,” as they had originally indicated. (Question number 89 came from the Fire Officer’s Handbook of Tactics, and dealt with a situation in which a member of a team of four firefighters performing a search of a burning building was overcome with heat.)

During the above-mentioned adjustment process, as the result of an administrative error, the point which should have been added to Lieutenant Marcus Faske’s “Raw Score” was actually deducted from his “Raw Score.” That error has been corrected, and Lieutenant Faske is now number seven (7) on the eligibility list.

Lieutenant Brandon Wade’s position is now correctly reflected as number nine (9) on the eligibility list.
